Amazing!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Growing up worshiping the sun had finally taken its toll on my skin. As of late I have noticed sun spots on my face, chest and hands (yuck!). My Esthetician recommended I try Murad’s Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Gel. In about a month I noticed the spots beginning to fade! It is super light weight and soaks in fast too! Now all I have to do is remember the sunscreen…
Waste of money and time!

During most of my teens and twenties, I have never really paid attention to sunscreen and have not had any problems with skin discoloration or hyperpigmentation – chalk it up to youth. Now, in my early 30′s, I started to notice some spots and was annoyed enough to do something about it. I’ve tried many different brands of lighteners and brighteners, both drugstore and high-end products. I have to say that among all of them, this Murad one was the worst. It did absolutely no lightening after about 8 weeks of constant use per its directions as well as a separate sunscreen when I am exposed to the sun. In addition to being totally ineffective as a spot lightener, I believe it also contributed to several break-outs. I’m don’t have a problem with acne prior to using this product. I have light to medium skin color/tone and normal with a slight t-zone.
I would not recommend this product to anyone. Save your money and time, try something else.
don’t bother

Been using it for 6 months with no visible change…save your money – it’s expensive.
no visible changes

I have been using this product for over a year and still no visible changes. I use it about every 4 days at night. The gel just recently changed colors from clear to a lite orange. I wonder if I should be worried about this?
Either way, the gel didn’t help lighten my freckles, age spots. I have olive skin that is not sensitive in the least.
Not worth it!

I ordered and used two bottles of this…I used it and followed directions completely, and wore a spf 30 sunscreen everyday. Did absolutely nothing for my hyperpigmentation. I finally broke down and bought Hydroquinone 4%, my pigmentation that had plagued me for 3 years had almost vanished. Please don’t waste your money on this hype, if you have hyperpigmentation, just go for the hydroquinone 4 %, that cost me only $18.00 for a tube and had plenty left over, compared to $80.00 for this worthless item! I used murad for 6 months, hydroquinone for two months. I have an olive complexion, just because it’s more expensive doesn’t mean it’s better!
!! Weird skin reaction, maybe due to birth control !!

I have been using this product for about 2 weeks and I have noticed this product is not “lightening” my skin at all!! It’s actually darkening it, and that’s why my spots are fading. I have a really bad sun spot on my upper lip, and another on my forehead (both due to my nuva ring), and my spots have faded… but ONLY BECAUSE my skin has turned this reddish orange color.
I started noticing that my face and neck were 2 completely different colors!! My face is orange! HELP ME! How do I make my skin go back to it’s regular skin color! I’m freaking out!! I feel like I’ve made a huge mistake using this product.
Fades freckles, post acne marks, and age spots

I tried Murad lightening gel back in February 2008 and the price may be a little steep but it is June and I am only halfway through the bottle. You only need a little of this product every night before you apply your moisturizer as the sun prevents the lightening ingredients from working during the day. My freckles has significantly lightened (they are still there but I even stopped wearing foundation because you can hardly tell). This product is also great if you had acne in the past because it helps speed the lightening of acne marks, not just age spots. Just remember to wear sunscreen everyday, Neutrogena with helioplex is really light and non-greasy and will help this product works. Don’t expect all your marks to completely dissapear but this product works if you use it regularly.
Going going gone!

My freckles and sun spots are fading with the use of this Lightening gel. I am amazed (and thrilled!)I didn’t think it was possible. Thanks, Murad!!!
Itchy, painful rash

I hate giving a negative review to a product, as people are so individual that this might be a godsend to somebody else. So I will try to describe my skin carefully; if you’re anything like me, this might help you make your decision about trying this product.
I have sensitive pale olive skin with an oily T-zone and chin and normal skin on my cheeks. I’m not particularly acne-prone, but have occasional hormonal breakouts, as well as occasional hives from chemical sensitivities. I am part-Asian and in my mid-thirties. I have no wrinkles except a small fine line under my left eye from stretching the eyelids to put in contact lenses.
I wanted this product to fade hyperpigmentation on my left cheek, a dusting of dark spots near my nose and eye. The first time I used this product, I broke out in an itchy rash the next day that took a week to heal. It was March in New England, right when my skin is dry anyway, so I thought I would wait until the summer heat gave me some more oil production to give the product a second chance.
Last week, I used the product again. It gave me skin that was smooth, clear, and beautiful, although not particularly lighter. (It was the first application, so I didn’t expect any results on that.) Remembering the rash, I waited a good three days, and applied the gel again. Once again, my skin looked great. So, I applied the gel again on Tuesday night (three days later than the previous application), and the next day, my face itched like crazy. By Wednesday evening, I had a horrific bunch of bumps and pimples (not whiteheads, they are exactly like tiny fluid-filled blisters) all over my left cheek, from underneath my eye to my chin. On Thursday evening, the rash had spread across my chin, with a few scattered bumps on the right side. I spent the evening putting ice packs on my face to keep myself from scratching. Today, my face is slightly worse in that it’s reddened and some more tiny bumps are appearing on my chin. It isn’t acne from “purging” or anything like that. It’s definitely a nasty rash, and the absolutely worst facial skin I’ve had in my life.
I’m going to spend tonight in a chemical-free mud pack to reduce the itch, and otherwise hide until I’m healed. Unfortunately, I have a big social event tomorrow!
I am definitely tossing this product in the trash.
Hope this helps, and thank you for reading my review!
Great results, good value for your $

I have been using this cream for almost 2 months now and the results are amazing. My sun spots are lightened and it has also decreased the redness on my face. I will continue to use it and highly recommend it.
Just another bottle of hype

Maybe I expect too much. However, even my lowest expectation wasnt met. Just go ask a dermatologist to help, dont waste your money.
made me break out in hives!

I’ve always had sensitive skin, I hoped this would work okay for me, but instead of just a break out like I normally get if a product doesn’t agree with me – this stuff actually made me break out in hives!
